Road Tunnel Lighting is a significant service provided by us in the tunnel business and the design of the lighting is done dependent on specific boundaries like maximum speed permitted, halting distance, the volume of the passage/tunnel, external luminance, and topography of the tunnel, etc. The lighting designs comply with the standards based on CIE 88:2004, ANSI/IES RP22-11, and in India, it is widely followed with the general guidelines of IRC SP 91:2010, IRC SP 87:2013. Tunnel Lighting is divided into zones and luminance levels are controlled automatically to embrace the safer movement inside the tunnel. The inadequately designed tunnel lighting may lead to accidents as the human eye cannot adapt to the fast change in brightness when entering inside the tunnel. The resulting black hole syndrome can deliver the driver effectively blind for a small period. The illuminance estimation is utilized by the lighting control system to verify the actual lighting intensity applied to the passage.
